For each meeting you will need to watch the videos and work through the workbook questions. The book chapters are optional; most of the content is covered in the videos, but it doesn't hurt to supplement with the book.

MEETING 1:

Gospel Coach Workbook Ch 1-5

Discussion Questions:

  • What is gospel coaching?
    • How is it different from evangelism? From discipleship? From counseling? 
    • How is it different from performance-centered coaching?
      • How do the results of gospel coaching and performance-centered coaching compare/contrast?
    • Why is gospel coaching necessary?
    • What are the necessary components of gospel coaching?
      • What are some components that are not necessary, but nice?
      • Why is it important to define these?
    • How can our coaching reflect the gospel? (1 John 5:3-5, 11-13)
    • Is there anything specific from the content that you would like to discuss further?
    • How does this fit into the vision of our ministry/church body? What kinds of opportunities can you see in your current situation?
      • What kinds of thoughts/feelings arise as you consider implementing this?

MEETING 2:

Discussion Questions:

  • What did you learn about discerning who to coach? (2 Tim 2:2)
    • How might what you are looking for change based on context?
  • Discuss coaching session agenda and ways to coach (Wkbk pages 41, 43-44)
  • What makes a good coaching question?
  • How can listening as a coach differ from everyday listening in "regular" conversations?
  • Define in your own words know, feed, lead, and protect.
    • Which comes most naturally to you? Where are you most comfortable/confident?
    • Which area(s) do you see being harder for you?
      • What steps might you need to pursue to grow in this area?

      • Where do try tend to lean towards advisor?
      • Why is it important to be aware of this?

MEETING 3:

Complete a Gospel Life Plan for yourself
Gospel Coach Book Ch 11-12 (Optional)

Discussion Questions:

  • What benefits can you see in developing a Gospel Life Plan? Why is it important/helpful?
    • Once developed, how tightly should we cling to it?
  • Walk through Gospel Life Plans together. Explain where necessary and share examples from each other's plans.
    • What is a calling?
      • How can we discern what ew are or are not being called to?
      • What questions could be helpful in discerning a calling?
    • In setting goals, what is important to remember/include?
      • What kinds of questions can we ask to help others set good goals?
    • What is the purpose of the stewardship component?
      • Why is this important to consider?
    • What is the most important method of the CROSS method?
  • What are some truths to remember as we lead others through developing a Gospel Life Plan?
